Fall Sangria Recipe with Apples and Cranberries

Here in Chicago there is usually a violent push from summer to winter and this year felt more like a slingshot as we dramatically went from 75° to 40° in 2 days.  The weather ain’t got nothing on this fall sangria recipe, because this will take you to bliss!

There wasn’t much of a fall this year, but I’m doing everything I can to embrace it, so I made this Fall Sangria Recipe with Apples and Cranberries.  It may be sub 40° temperatures outside but in my mind, it’s fall and I’m going to celebrate it as such!

    What is a Fall Sangria

Sangria is always a super fun drink to make no matter what kind of year, because depending on what’s in season you can make a really cool customized adult beverage, like this fall sangria version.

For example, you may have a sangria loaded with berries in the summer time and like this fall sangria recipe, loaded with citrus, apples, pears and cranberries.

The flavors of each are completely different and still absolutely delicious.  To take my fall sangria recipe to whole ‘nother level, I thought it would be an amazing idea to chill each sangria drink after poured with some Italian Ice!

How to Make a Fall Sangria Recipe

I made 2 different sangrias with almost the exact same ingredients except for the juice and the Italian ice.  With just these 2 subtle differences the change in flavor for this fall sangria recipe is HUGE.

I used the same fruit base for both which was: oranges, pears, apples, cranberries and pomegranates.  You’ll notice a few different colors of apples in there but honestly, I was just trying to make it as colorful as possible.

    fall sangria recipes

For the fall sangria liquid I used a sauvignon blanc white wine because it has citrus notes to it which make it perfect for this time of year.

I then poured a bit of apple brandy into each along with some simple syrup, which is equal parts water and sugar brought to a boil and then chilled.

For one of the fall sangria recipes, I used apple cider as the juice and the other one I used cranberry juice.  Each of those juices complement the other ingredients to perfection.

Also, as I stated earlier, you can combine the juices into 1 if you are looking for a tasty cran-apple juice in your sangria recipe.

I decided the dark cherry Italian ice would go well with the apple cider version of my sangria recipe and the lemon Italian ice would go well with the cranberry juice version.

To be honest they complement those drinks well but you could absolutely use either Italian ice in both for an amazing sangria drink.

pouring a fall sangria into a serving glass

I usually like to serve my fall sangria recipes in big clear glass decanters because they are so pretty and I want to show them off to the world!

You can serve them in whatever you’d like but I recommend letting all those colors shine on through!
