My Morning Ritual

I don’t consider myself much of a ritualistic person but my mornings sure feel sacred.  I like to get up early every day, in between 5:00 and 6:00 am.  It’s quiet, it’s peaceful and it’s precious coveted time I get to myself.  I love my family, I love spending every second with them but if they want the sane Billy and not the crabby Billy, it’s necessary that I get a little me time every day.  Mine comes early in the morning and always with hot cup of Joe. Early mornings while drinking coffee is therapeutic to me.  I read,…

5 Loaves 2 Fish, A Long Time Coming

It’s been over a year in the making but 5 Loaves 2 Fish is finally here!  A lot of late nights, hard work and passion have gone into this new venture and I am beyond excited to share it with you. A good friend of mine from culinary school, Josh Fitts and I, came together because we both had a deep passion for the restaurant world but knew we couldn’t devote ourselves full time to it.  In response we wanted to help influence the culinary world so we started 5 Loaves 2 Fish, which makes super high quality hand crafted goods…

My Epic Cbus Food Journey

I’m not even sure how to start my recap of my insanely dope trip to Columbus last weekend, because I have to be honest I still can’t believe how awesome it was. I clearly don’t get out enough because I have this big city bias thing goin on because I live in Chicago, but truth be told after my time in Columbus I literally called my wife at the airport on the way home to inform her I’d move there in seriously 2 seconds. I grew up thinking Columbus was this terrible place because it was home to the Buckeyes…

Heading to Columbus to Check out the Culinary Scene

I’m getting ready to embark on a culinary journey in a few weeks to Columbus, Ohio because rumor has it that the food scene is booming big time! It appears Columbus has some insanely delicious restaurants just by doing a little food scouting via social media and searching. I have a few friends from that area and a few surrounding cities who have always told me how awesome of a city Columbus is and given the recent college town’s football success I’m guessing there is certainly a thriving vibe that is still echoing through. Because I’ve been consulting with a…

Peanut Butter Yogurt Pie with Bananas and Honey

Every once in a while my daughter will take a strong interest in what I’m making in the kitchen. However when it comes to sweets she’s always trying to get in to see what I’m doing, she’s got a sweet tooth just like her mommy J. Although I had to keep her busy with a few Horizon® snacks, she did give me a hand making this Peanut Butter Yogurt Pie with Bananas and Honey. It was super easy to make and required very little prep time, which was huge in keeping a 2½ year olds attention span. Since my daughter…

The London No 1 Gin Mixologist Competition

Man I used to love sipping on gin over rocks. Super smooth and refreshing and of course awesome flavor. I recently got the chance to try The London No 1 at a local spot here in Chicago called SoHo. The place for lack of better words is just “pimp.” It’s super swanky, old, chic and just a great place to kick back and enjoy company and drinks. The London No 1 is having a current contest to vote for the best local bartender so we figured we’d give Matt Jannotta a visit and I’m not gonna lie, dude’s got game…
