Ingredients
2tablespoonsof unsalted butter
2peeled and thickly sliced yellow onions + 1/2 diced
1tablespoonof sugar
1poundof Farm to Family by Butterball Ground Turkey
1tablespoonof chopped garlic
1/2each diced red and yellow bell pepper
1cupof ketchup
2tablespoonsof brown sugar
1tablespoonof mustard
1teaspoonof chili powder
1teaspoonof soy sauce
1teaspoonof Worcestershire sauce
1/2cupof water
4 toasted pretzel buns
4slicesof mozzarella cheese
8bread and butter pickle slices
Instructions
In a large sauté pan with 1 tablespoons of butter on medium heat add in the onion slices and caramelize, about 45 minutes. Add in sugar 1/2 way through the cooking process to help brown. Set aside.
In another large sauté pan on high heat with 1 tablespoon of butter add in the ground turkey and cook.
Once it's half way through cooking, add in the garlic, diced onion and peppers and sauté until the turkey is cooked and the other ingredients are lightly browned, about 5 to 6 minutes.
Next, add in the ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, chili powder, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and water and stir until it completely mixed in.
Serve the sloppy joes on a pretzel bun with mozzarella cheese slices, bread and butter pickle slices and caramelized onions.
