Ingredients
For The Apple Crisp:
6ouncesof unsalted butter
4peeled, cored and large diced honey crisp apples
4peeled, cored and large diced granny smith apples
juice of ½ lemon
¼cupof sugar
1teaspoonof cinnamon
1cupof dried cherries
½cupof all-purpose flour
2/3cupof packed light brown sugar
1cupof rolled oats
For the Caramel:
1cupof packed light brown sugar
4ouncesof unsalted butter
¼cupof heavy whipping cream
Instructions
Heat 2 ounces of butter over medium heat in a 12” cast iron skillet until melted and add in the diced apples, lemon juice, sugar and cinnamon and cook until tender, about 4 to 7 minutes.
Once the apples are tender sprinkle the cherries overtop and lightly mix them in.
In a large bowl cut together the remaining 4 ounces of butter, flour, brown sugar and rolled oats until the butter is the size of rice.
Sprinkle the oat mixture over the apples covering them completely.
Place a lid onto the cast iron skillet and cook over low heat for 15 to 20 minutes or until the oats are cooked.
Caramel: In a small pot cook the brown sugar, butter and heavy whipping cream over medium-low heat until smooth, about 5 to 6 minutes.
