My Unconventional Christmas Dinner Menu

It’s been about 6 or 7 years since the last time I actually celebrated Christmas day with my side of the family.  Since everyone lives in different states, and now enter kids into the picture, it’s been tough to see each other.  Even though it can be difficult to get together we celebrate Christmas every year, it just happens to be a few weeks early.  I am sure several of you are in the same boat as us and you just make it work.  It’s really no big deal to me since the meaning of Christmas is about the birth of Jesus right?  Here’s a little history on that though… While no one actually knows the exact day of Jesus’s birth, December 25th was chosen because it was a day that was the birth of Sol Invictus, a Pagan celebration. Early Christians deliberately chose this date to encourage the spread of Christmas and Christianity throughout the Roman world.  Seems a bit rude to just place a holiday on to someone else’s, however it does at least give us something to look forward to during the bitter cold winter.  Again, in the end I don’t really care what day it is, because there is no biblical evidence that December 25th is the date.  Moving on….

Although my parents, sister and brother-in-law don’t ever say it, I feel they have high expectations when they come to visit for holidays given the nature of what I do for a living.  So of course I hooked up an Italian 6 course meal that was really REALLY tasty.  I’m not one to eat turkey for Christmas and much prefer a really nice meal no matter what culture it comes from.  So below please find pictures that link to their recipes to my My Unconventional Christmas Dinner Menu.
