Turkey Burger Frisco Melt with Sriracha 1000 Island

When I was in high school the Friday night hang out was Steak ‘N’ Shake.  It was literally right down the street so it was an easy meeting place after football games or after going out for the night.  I’m pretty sure we used to torture the poor wait staff there with our small orders while taking up seats and demanding fast service.  Oops!  One of the things I always ordered there was their Frisco melt.  If you’ve never had it, or don’t even live near a Steak ‘N’ Shake then here’s the recipe for you, with a little twist of course J.

You know I can’t keep traditional recipes alone with out adding my own touch to it!  While most of this is kept the same I made them with Butterball® frozen turkey burgers because I wanted this thing and I wanted it quick!  Their frozen turkey burgers are ridiculously convenient being there whenever I want and awesomely delicious!  Also because I’ve been in the gym lately and wanting some tasty lean meat, so this is perfect!  For the 1,000 island dressing you can do 1 of 2 things.  You can either mix the Sriracha right on or drizzle it on the top like I did.  I kept it separate because I didn’t want to burn the taste buds off of my daughter!  However, if your family likes a little kick I suggest mixing it right in.  This recipe is easy, tasty and will for sure be a family favorite in no time!

  1. Island: Mix together all of the ingredients in a large bowl until completely combined and keep cool.
  2. Burgers: Season the burgers on both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat the olive oil in large cast iron skillet and add in the burgers and cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through out.
  4. Once they are cooked remove the burgers from the skillet, slice in half width wise and add in the butter.
