My Unconventional Early Christmas Dinner

For the past 13 years our family usually celebrates Christmas a week early due to everyone’s crazy work schedules, not-too-mention all the people that live out of state. This year my family gathered at my house and for the first time I had to cook the entire meal, as opposed to just lending a hand. There is no easy way to say it, IT’STRESSFUL. Cooking all day, cleaning all day, kids and dogs running around.. LOUD NOISES! It seriously brought me to the point of exhaustion and a near self psych ward check-in… But we were determined to host it this year and when it was all said and done, it was a success. There is something that food does to bring friends and family together. When mouths are full and plates are empty you almost forget about the 20 minute argument you just had with your brother-in-law on which is the best college football conference in the nation. Food is therapeutic and in many ways is the ultimate silencer when it comes to crazy family members and pets. It’s crazy how you prep food and clean the entire house for countless hours and within 15 minutes of everyone being here the house is trashed and after 30 minutes of eating there is barely enough scraps for the dog to get a taste. In the end nothing makes me more proud to be a chef when I see the smiles on everyones faces and then I know it was all worth the trouble of an all night demi-glaze! I wish all of you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Be safe, eat well and be merry 🙂 Here are a few pictures from my evening.
