I try not to tell you what you should and should not do, but when it comes to the kitchen you better listen up! I would like to think I know my way around the kitchen and I can tell you there are THREE utensils I cannot live without, nor should you.
First starts with a French knife or “chef’s knife.” Usually come in sizes of 8 to 12 inches and there are obviously a ton of different brands to chose from. Let me first say SPEND THE MONEY! I know, I get it’s expensive, but it’s a once or twice in a lifetime buy. If you get a good knife that costs any where from $80 to $300, it will last you a life time, all you have to do is keep it sharp. If I catch you up at 3 am tryin’ to buy some garbage of an infomercial, I’m coming a’lookin for you 🙂
Second is my peeler. Not only does it do the obvious, peel fruits and vegetables, but it also shaves food very thin which you can add to salads or as a garnish. I prefer the “Swiss” peeler or the one with the handle at the top and blade at the bottom. Looks kind of similar to a cheese plane.
Lastly are my tongs. When I was in the restaurant industry your one hand literally becomes a towel for hot pans, and the other hand are for tongs. I really don’t have a preference as to who makes them just make sure they are long so you don’t burn yourselves. Just check out the picture.
So now go, run and grab these three items so that you can do any and everything in the kitchen.
