Beautifying Our Back Yard

Outside of taking tons of photos and talking about my herb and tomato garden, I try to do an update on our backyard in general because we change it up so much and because so many people ask what we’re growing. It’s so funny when people come to visit us in Chicago and notice how houses are so close to everyone and they feel so claustrophobic, but once we walk to the backyard they are blown away at how pretty and floral it is. My Aunt Sharon from Georgia was like dang. She didn’t even think we were at the same house, it’s that different!

While it’s becoming more and more difficult to maintain the backyard because I’m just so busy these days with work and chasing around our sweet 2 year old, I felt that I was handed a gift when I was introduced to Miracle-Gro® LiquaFeed®.   I’m not kidding when I say it does exactly what it says it will, “Twice as Big.” It’s super easy to hook up and love the direct faucet attachment and then the hose connection. I feel like this gives me a little more control on what I’m pumping out without losing any through the spray nozzle.

I took a series of pictures of the course 4 weeks and focused on 3 total plants so you could see the vast improvement in growth over such a short period of time. Sure I did it in May when plants are growing, but I’m not kidding when I say our plants nearly doubled in size across the board. I mean these plants have been back there forever and we have never seen them this big.   I used the LiquaFeed® spray every ten days for a total of 3 times in the month of May, in other words it was super easy and only took about 20 to 30 minutes to do the entire backyard. God forbid you get outside and enjoy some nice weather and garden admiration J.

To start you will see the 3 plants above, which show them in the first week in May. Don’t judge me about not pruning the one; I eventually got around to it, which you will see later! You’ll see a few little diddy’s popping up but nothing that crazy, really more green than anything.

Next you will see after 15 days and 1 total spray. Not bad, a few more things coming along, the peonies are infested with ants trying to rip back the outer shell of the flower, and yup still not pruned on the other one J. You’ll also notice at just how tall the peonies are. They’ve never been anywhere near that, this stuff is amazing!

Last but not least May 30th and dang! Peonies in full effect and dang tall, full green plants and pruned, and lastly some beautiful purple flowers coming through. Now I wish I new the name of the other 2 plants, but I’m a guy and haven’t done my research. I will say though that they are absolutely beautiful and really have our guests chatting more than usual, it’s pretty cool. I can tell you from hear on out I’m a fan of LiquaFeed® and thanks for making things easier to maintain and for beautifying our backyard!
